When a man prays…

'They that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.' When a man prays outwardly aloud, then he cannot always follow all the movements of his heart, which are so rapid that he is necessarily obliged to pay attention to the pronunciation of the words, and to their outward form. Thus the prayers of many of the clergy [or laity] who read rapidly become quite untrue: with their lips they seem to pray; in appearance they are pious, but their hearts are asleep, and do not know what their lips say. This proceeds from the fact that they hurry, and do not meditate in their hearts upon what they are saying.

- St. John of Kronstadt

Please pray for me!

Something new is coming in my life… please pray that everything will be fine at last, with God’s help, and I’ll not be disapointed for another time! Pray that God will enlighten both me and all the people involved, with the intercessions of Virgin Mary and all the Saints!

God bless you all <3

He’s awaiting us!

God is very rich! And He’s awaiting us! … He waits for us to ask! Anyone who wants to acquire the gift of prayer, must keep silent and pray. We speak so much about prayer. That’s one thing that cannot be discussed but practiced. A deep silence is a deep prayer…Every moment is a time [in eternity] and every sigh can become a prayer. We must not cease to pray, even with the mind.

- Elder Arsenie Papacioc

Prayer request

Aaron shared with us his prayer request. So, let us unite our prayers…

"My prayer request is for my lovely wife, LeeAnn, who suffers from a chronic illness effecting her Autonomic System. (essentially her nervous system) This illness causes heavy fatigue, dizziness, her heart rate will rise sometimes into the 140s while laying down slowly coming back down,

She’s a cardiac nurse and is currently enrolled in grad school to get her doctorate in nursing for being a nurse Practitioner.

Please prayer not only for healing, but also patience and strength for the day to day as the Lord often shapes us in our struggles no matter what they are.”

Prayer For Our Neighbors

We should pray not only for ourselves, but also for our neighbors. Every morning and every evening, as well as when we are in church, we should remember our relatives, family, friends, enemies, and offer prayer to God for them all. This is very important, because people are bound together by indissoluble bonds and often the prayer of one person for another saves the other from great danger.

- Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev

Prayer request

It may be tiring to ask it again and again, however, I really need many prayers right now because from tomorrow till the following week I have something really important to do. Please pray to God that everything will be just fine and He’ll be by myside all the time, whatever happens <3 Even one prayer means the world to me <3 God bless all of you!

The Lenten Prayer of St. Ephrem the Syrian

O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, faintheartedness, lust of power and idle talk. But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love to Thy servant. Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own errors and not to judge my brother, for Thou art blessed from all ages to all ages. Amen.

There is no prayer so quickly heard…

There is no prayer so quickly heard as the prayer whereby a man asks to be reconciled with those who are wroth with him. For when he charges himself with the offence, this prayer is immediately answered.

- St. Isaac the Syrian

How should one pray?

Abba Macarius was asked, ‘How should one pray?’ The old man said, ‘There is no need at all to make long discourses, it is enough to stretch out one’s hands and say, “Lord, as You will, and as You know, have mercy.” And if the conflict grows fiercer say, “Lord, help!” He knows very well what we need and He shows us His mercy.’

- Sayings of the Dessert Fathers by Benedicta Ward

On prayer

The chief thing in prayer for which we must care above all is—lively, clear-sighted faith in the Lord : represent Him vividly before yourself and within you—then ask of Jesus Christ in the Holy Ghost whatever you desire and you will obtain it. Ask simply, without the slightest doubt—then your God will be everything to you, accomplishing in an instant great and wonderful acts, as the sign of cross, accomplishes great wonders. Ask for both spiritual and material blessings not only for yourself, but for all believers, for the whole body of the Church, not separating yourself from other believers, but in spiritual union with them, as a member of the one great body of the Church of Christ, and loving all, as your brethren or children in Christ, as the case may be. The heavenly Father will fill you with the great peace and boldness.

- St. John of Kronstadt

Only prayer can save us now

The world is on fire! Do you understand? There is so much temptation. The devil has started such a blaze that all the fire-fighters in the world will not be able to put it out: it is a spiritual fire! There’s nothing left. And there’s no other help for us: only prayer can save us now. We must pray to God to take pity on us. You see, when a fire spreads and the fire-fighters can do nothing about it, people are forced to turn to God and pray for Him to send a heavy rain. It’s the same with the spiritual fire started by the devil: we must all pray to God for Him to help us.

Prayers for the weekend!

For another time, I would like to ask you to keep me in your prayers this weekend, especially on the Saturday. It’s a very stressful period for me, that me and some other people involved have to take important decisions for our future.

I don’t know many people in real life that are eager to pray for me, as you do, so I count on you! <3 God bless you all!

Prayer is the key to Heaven

Prayer is the key to Heaven, it’s strength is capable of everything. It protects our souls, and it becomes a source of all virtues, a ladder by which we climb to God, the work of the angles and the basis of faith.

- St. Augustine
