Weep over your sin

Weep over your sin: it is a spiritual ailment; it is death to your immortal soul; it deserves ceaseless, unending weeping and crying; let all tears flow for it, and sighing come forth without ceasing from the depths of your heart.

In profound humility I weep for all my sins, voluntary and involuntary, conscious and unconscious, covert and overt, great and little, committed by word and deed, in thought and intention, day and night, at every hour and minute of my life.

- St. Basil the Great

Let us weep for ourselves

Go to the tombs and see that the assurance of men is nothing. Why then does man who is dust indulge in vainglory? Why does he who is all stench exalt himself? Let us therefore weep for ourselves while we have time, lest, at the hour of our departure, we be found asking God for extra time to repent.

- St. Pachomius

How can you not weep…?

How can you not weep when you see how much you’ve grieved God, the Angels and the Saints, who wait for you in Heaven and benefit you while on earth?

- Papa Dimitri Gagastathis

How can you not weep?

How can you not weep when you see how much you’ve grieved God, the Angels and the Saints, who wait for you in Heaven and benefit you while on earth?

- Father Demetris Gagastathis

Now it’s time to weep

Now it’s time to weep and pray for the condition of today’s world.  We must pray that God may enlighten them to see the way of God, the way of truth and of righteousness.

- Papa-Dimitris Gagastathis

"Rejoice with them that do rejoice"

Raindrops on holly leaf

Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with those who weep. That shows your pure heart. With those who are sick, join them. Cry with the sinners. With those who repent for their sins, rejoice. Be friends with everyone, but do not forget to concentrate on yourself. Do not examine anyone as if you are above them, nor scoff and insult people, even those who live very bad life. Spread your dress of affection and shelter the sinner.

-Elder Paisios
